Very sad to announce that John Martyn died this morning. He will be very sadly missed.

"John's passing is terribly, terribly sad. I had worked with and known him since the late 1970s and he was a great friend.

He was uncompromising, which made him infuriating to some people, but he was unique and we'll never see the likes of him again. I loved him dearly and will miss him very much."

source? to quote a song I know, it's everywhere.... but here's a couple for you

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/7858458.stm
http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/collins%20pays%20tribute%20to%20martyn_1093323

editorial - I find it absolutely tragic that you post without a source than someone has died, however demand a source when someone simply comments on it.

huh I'm not quite sure what your Edit means, but if I have offended in some way, I apologise wink I was just interested to know where you had seen this quote and to read what else, if anything, Phil had to say!!! rolleyes

I heard the news (and I wasn't putting up a quote!!) 'on the grapevine' - actually from an extremely reliable source.
